London Mayor, Boris Johnson has said he's content to expand Dundonald Primary school onto Dundonald Rec

A planning application was submitted in January, which went to the Mayor's office to see if they comply with planning rules.

The council also seeking the removal of any legal protection against building on the Rec.

Residents have complained against the expansion because the land was protected by a covenant.

However, Merton Council has expressed concerns over trying to satisfy primary school places in the borough.

Lib Dem spokesperson Diana Coman said: "London-wide planning rules are supposed to protect public open space and I am hugely disappointed that London's Mayor Boris Johnson is not going to overturn the plans to build on Dundonald Rec."
