Boundary changes 2013 explained - Wimbledon

Why are they changing the boundaries of where we live? 

The Boundary Commission for England reviews Parliamentary constituency boundaries every five years.  

Under new rules laid down by parliament, 2013 could see substantial changes to constituency boundaries, meaning that, depending on where you live, you could end up being labelled under a different area.  

What are the benefits of a boundary change? 

The total number of constituencies in the UK will reduce from 533 to 502, meaning some MP's could be made redundant.  

The aim is to try and get an equal number of electors in each area.  

Initial Proposals in September 2011, suggest that the following areas would be included in "Wimbledon and New Malden" 

* Wimbledon Village

* Hillside

* Dundonald 

* Merton Park

* Cannon Hill

* West Barnes

* St James

* Old Malden

* Beverly

* Coombe vale

* Coombe Hill

Revised proposals were published last night put forward that the following areas would be included in "Wimbledon and Coombe BC" constituent. 

* Trinity

* Abbey

* Merton Park

* Cannon Hill

* West Barnes

* Dundonald

* Raynes Park

* Hillside

* Beverly

* Coombe Vale

* Coombe Hill

* Wimbledon Village
