Merton Council leader, Stephen Alambritis says he wants a report concerning a potentially hazardous bollard at the bottom of Wimbledon hill.

It comes after traffic in Wimbledon town centre came to standstill this morning after a Virgin media van ended up on its' side.

Luckily, in this incident no body was injured, but it's the third major accident to date involving the bollard.

The last crash was in September, when a silver Vauxhall van ended turned over when turning at the junction with Worple Road.  Before that, a similar accident occurred at the site.

I made a video of the crash scene. The local Community Support Officer reckoned it was the fifth time the bollard had been hit, and that they've moved it back as far as they can!
