Merton Conservative Councillors have accused the Council of "dithering" when building a new school in Wimbledon.

It's because a document commissioned by the council, produced by Capita revealed that seven sites in Wimbledon could be used for education.

The conservatives have also accused the council of wasting money in the process of deciding to build a new school.

Councillor Oonagh Moulton, Conservative Education Spokesman says: "It was 3 years ago that the previous Conservative administration allocated £10million of funding for a new school in the area of greatest demand."

"We had even instructed council officers to enter into negotiations on purchasing a site ready for the school to open in September 2013 yet all these plans were put on hold in May 2010 when Labour took power."

"Labour's dithering and delay has cost both the children and taxpayers of Merton dearly."

"We are told that costs have now rocketed, presumably in part because the administration decided to reveal commercially sensitive details of the site we had designated for a new school."

"But then Labour don't care about getting value for residents' money."
