Merton Council have conducted roadwork's throughout the night to minimise the amount of cars getting flipped over at the junction of Worple Road and Wimbledon Hill Road.

Over the past year, there's been several reports of vehicles getting flipped over because of a bell shaped bollard.

Luckily there's been no reports of any serious injuries.

Earlier this month, Head of Merton Council Stephen Alambritis requested a dossier into how the junction could be improved.

As a result the curb surrounding the bollard has been reshaped and raised in order to make it more visible to motorists.

Councillor Alambritis said:"We are confident this doubling in the height of the kerb will prevent speeding cars from flipping over. In addition retaining the bell bollard will protect pedestrians who cross and stop halfway for traffic"

"Drivers must drive carefully at all times. I am pleased we have moved fast to protect both pedestrians and reconfigure the spot in a way that addresses everyones concerns"
