Richard Hilton appointed Merton Conservative Leader

Councillor Richard Hilton is to take the helm of the Merton Conservatives.

The move follows the resignation last weekend of Councillor Debbie Shears.
Following his appointment Councillor Hilton praised the hard work of Councillor Shears, saying her dedication had given the group a good foundation.
He added: "Residents want low Council tax, low crime, clean streets and a housing policy that puts local people first."
"Unlike Labour, we won't be letting unelected officers dictate policy. There will be no more fleecing motorists with vicious and unfair parking fines."
