Former Prime Minister, Sir John Major has launched a new refurbished day-care facility at St Raphael's Hospice in North Cheam this week.

He was joined with patients and former Care Minister and Sutton and Cheam MP, Paul Burstow.

During its 25th anniversary year. Sir John Major said "The opening of this new day care facility is an exciting development for St Raphael's Hospice, changing the way in which day services are offered to meet the needs of as many people as possible by providing access to a wider diverse range of services and activities."

"Living with a life threatening disease is the toughest fight anyone will have to face, but here at St Raphael's Hospice, the message is that you don't have to face that fight alone."

He went on to pay tribute to the 600 volunteers who support the work at St Raphael's Hospice, particularly those who are helping at the new Jubilee Centre.
