South West Trains have put this down to a "Major Signalling" problems at Waterloo, meaning the mainline can't run from Clapham Junction.
Nicola George, (@NicolaKGeorge) tweeted: "Left my house an hour ago and I'm only in Wimbledon.. I hate being late for work!!"
Laurence Knutsen (@doifeellucky) added, "Wimbledon station is a usability nightmare. Need to avoid this place during the week. Forming a plan."
One commuter even claims to have been stuck on a train for the last two hours, Carley (@CarleyDe****) "Excellent. Been on the train since 7am and still only in Wimbledon..."
There were reports of a similar problem with the signals on Friday.
Trains aren't even stopping at Surbiton Station this morning because of the problems.
@velotimbo has reported: "Yet another near empty stops at Surbiton during probs & the doors don't open. On the platform opposite..."
Iain B @IBwan tweeted "Trouble is when there's train delays, Surbiton to Waterloo services get cancelled. The 1000s of commuters into London have nowhere to go..."
South West trains have apologised for the delays and have said that trains leaving Waterloo are approximately 40 minutes late.
Tickets are being accepted on the tube, buses and Southern and FGW.

This is one of the reasons why I now cycle to work from Wimbledon. It's amazing that you can get from door to door on a bike quicker than the average day commute by public transport. Wimbledon to the centre of town by bike is easily achievable in 50 minutes or so. That's only 12 mph average as well. Why not give it a try?
