Wimbledon cafe to host fundraising day for neo natal baby unit

A Wimbledon café aimed at families is to host an open day to raise funds for the neo natal unit at St George's Hospital.

The event at the Gooseberry Bush café, Kingston Road, on Saturday, July 14, will enable Wimbledon residents to come along and find out a bit more about the work the charity does, meet some of the therapists and teachers, try out a couple of the therapies or classes for yourself (for a donation to the charity), and taste some delicious cakes or cookies specially made for the occasion.

The First Touch charity was established in 1998 to assist the Neonatal Unit, and is run as a separate entity to the main hospital. It works hard to provide extra equipment for the intensive, high dependency and special care nurseries, both for the babies and their families.

Angela Yates, owner of Gooseberry Bush, local NCT Antenatal Teacher and Postnatal Tutor, set up the first NCT Antenatal courses specifically for Twin parents in 2010 and therefore Gooseberry Bush has set itself a target of £2,500 in order to buy a Twin incubator. 

She will also be holding a Silent auction, with some fantastic lots to bid for, as well as a Raffle with some great prizes to win.

The bids will be opened at 4.30pm on SaturdayJuly 14 at the Gooseberry Bush and the winners will be informed within one week by email. Tickets will cost £2 each, and are available for sale in the Gooseberry Bush Café. The draw will also be made on July 14 at 4.00pm and the winners may either choose their prize on the day or will be informed by email within one week, and names will be posted on the website.
