Launch of WAND card at Sainsbury's Putney (werter road) - helping people shopping with a disabled child or young person
Some children or young people have a disability that is easy to identify. But in the majority of cases, a special need or disability may not be obvious, leading to occasional misunderstandings. To help avoid this, Wandsworth Council has come up with new initiative to help families and local stores and service providers, with the launch of our WAND card. As part of this initiative, the Wandsworth Council is holding presentation sessions for the customer of Sainsburys Putney (Werter road) on the 8th of December. Potographers are invited to attend the presentation at 12p.m to 5p.m.
Standing for "Wandsworth additional Needs Database", the WAND card is for children or young people up to age 19 on Wandsworth Council's Disabled Children's Register. The card can be used as a form of ID to save parents or carers having to explain about a child's condition every time they go out. In some cases, they may use it to obtain concessions, where they apply. It is also intended to help staff and other customers at venues to identify children and carers who may need a little extra understanding or assistance from time to time.
