Denny de la Haye, standing in the general election as an independent candidate for the constituency of Hackney South and Shoreditch, will, if elected, create online poles for all parliamentary issues and cast his vote the way the majority of his constituents wish.

This “direct digital democracy” sounds great in theory but obviously opens the whole process up to abuse. Would you like to see something like this implemented in Wimbledon, are innovations like this what’s needed to restore our faith in our politicians or is it simply a publicity gimmick that could never work in practice?

Most importantly of course, how beneficial could such a system be to the Wimbledon area and what issues would you like to see addressed by our elected representative?

For regular updates, follow direct digital democracy on Twitter and don’t forget to tell us what you think.
