With the FA Cup final just a few weeks away it suddenly occurred – it’s 22 years since the top flight party crashers of Wimbledon completed one of the greatest underdog tales in Sport by beating mighty Liverpool to lift the 1988 FA Cup.

Since the rather ugly defection of the town’s team to Milton Keynes, the rise of heirs apparent AFC Wimbledon has been steady and true. Now, with ten games to go, AFC are still in with a shout of making the Blue Square Conference play-offs and bringing league football back to the area.
It’s a far cry from when the likes of Manchester United, Spurs, Arsenal and the rest were regular visitors to Plough Lane but what does the progress of the new Wimbledon mean to you?
The names of Jones, Beasant, Sanchez, Wise et al are etched in local history but can AFC Wimbledon write a new fairytale? We’d love to hear your thoughts as well as any memories you might have of those heady days of the 80s and 90s and in particular the class of ’88.
