Students across Merton, Raynes Park and Wimbledon have been recognised by the Merton Council at a celebration event.

Students representing Perseid, Cricket Green, Melrose, Raynes Park, Ricards Lodge, Rutlish, St Mark's Academy, SMART Centre, Ursuline High School and Wimbledon College received special awards.

A wide range of young people also played host for the evening and helped make the evening a success including some of Merton Volunteer Police Cadets.

The evening was marked by performances from a selection of talented students. The acts included a dance piece by Ricards Lodge High School, scenes from William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' performed by St Mark's Academy.

There were also vocal performances from Ursuline High School and solo vocal and instrumental pieces from Raynes Park students.

Merton Council's Deputy Mayor Councillor John Bowcott said: "I was very proud to see our young people celebrate their successes."

"We have so many talented young people in Merton who work hard and achieve their best. The celebration event at Raynes Park was a great tribute to their hard work."
