People who live in Merton are being asked to come forward to take part in the London Youth Games.

Merton Council's Leisure Development team are looking for young people in school year 12 and under to take part.

It's because of the introduction of a School Games category to the Balfour Beatty London YouthGames.

As Europe's largest youth sport competition featuring over thirty-five different sports, the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games includes everything from angling to weightlifting as well as football, swimming, gymnastics, fencing and much more.

Throughout the year, Merton's School Sports Partnership hold inter-school competitions and the winners go forward to play the winning teams from the other 33 London Boroughs at the London Youth Games.

If you or anyone you know are interested in getting involved as a competitor, volunteer or just want to join a taster session for the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games 2013, register your interest and keep up to date at http://www.merton.gov.uk/youthgames.
